NTT Ltd and Princeton Digital Group Propel Malaysia’s High-Tech Infrastructure Growth

November 2023

Malaysia continues to attract strategic high-tech projects, particularly data centers, positioning the country as a digitally connected nation with robust digital infrastructure. Aligned with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), Malaysia aims to become an ‘Asian Digital Tiger’ by 2025.

NTT Ltd, a Japan-based IT infrastructure and services company, has invested over MYR 234 million (USD 50 million) in launching its new data center, Cyberjaya 6 (CBJ6), in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. As the sixth data center on NTT’s campus, CBJ6 boasts a critical IT load of 7MW, 4,890m2 of space, advanced cooling wall technology, and two 33kV substations for stable power reception. This facility, along with the previously built Cyberjaya 5 (CBJ5) Data Center in 2021, contributes to a combined space of 20,000m2 and a facility load of 22MW.

Princeton Digital Group (PDG), an APAC-focused data center firm, has initiated the construction of its new facility, JH1, in Sedenak Tech Park (STeP), Johor, Malaysia. This project, with a planned capacity of 60 MW, is set to be operational by Q2 2024. PDG’s JH1 campus is designed for energy efficiency and scalability to meet the colocation needs of hyperscalers and enterprises, representing one of the largest data center campuses in the region. The company is investing around USD 450 million in this venture and has secured an Electricity Supply Agreement (ESA) with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to power the JH1 campus from the first half of 2024.
