Singapore is set to deepen its role as a premier aerospace hub with the signing of a strategic 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and leading global aerospace and defense company RTX in June 2025. This agreement outlines a comprehensive roadmap to enhance collaboration in advanced manufacturing, aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), artificial intelligence (AI), and talent development, thereby solidifying Singapore’s position as a key node in RTX’s global network amidst rising aviation demand in the Asia-Pacific region.
The MoU demonstrates Singapore’s commitment to fostering aerospace capabilities by enabling joint investment and co-development programs in foundational technologies and AI-driven innovations. These initiatives are aligned with Singapore’s broader strategy to nurture a highly skilled, future-ready workforce capable of supporting next-generation aerospace platforms. Currently, RTX employs over 4,300 people and operates twelve facilities locally, making it the largest foreign aerospace and defense employer in the country. This expanding footprint reinforces Singapore’s status as Asia’s leading center for aerospace innovation, manufacturing excellence, and regional aviation services.
Emerging from more than 50 years of successful partnership, the renewed collaboration with RTX highlights Singapore’s strategic vision of building resilient and diversified industrial ecosystems that attract global players. By focusing on advanced technology, digital transformation, and talent development, the collaboration aims to unlock new business and investment opportunities within Singapore’s aerospace sector and across Southeast Asia.
