Swimlane Establishes Regional Headquarters in Malaysia, Aims for Expansion

June 2022

US-based security automation developer, Swimlane, is setting up a regional headquarters in Kuala Lumpur as part of its expansion plan into the Asia Pacific. Swimlane has formed a strategic partnership with Cyber Security Malaysia, the national cybersecurity specialist and technical center to bolster the cyber environment.

Swimlane co-founder and chief strategy officer Cody Cornell said the firm will be promoting its technology, allowing anyone at any organization to contribute their knowledge and expertise. Swimlane intends to emulate its global success in low-code security automation in the region. The partnership with CyberSecurity Malaysia seeks three core objectives: raising awareness on security operations automation, building in-country talent skills, and providing technology to enable existing and new technology partners to develop security automation & analytics solutions and services. One of the possible partners is GlobeOSS Sdn Bhd, Swimlane’s security technology services investor. GlobeOSS plans to expand the current Network Operation Center (NOC) into a Security Operation & Analytic Center.

The firm’s decision to establish in Kuala Lumpur was mainly attributed to the thriving and diversified economy with world-class infrastructure, experienced and well-skilled partners, and a competitive, multilingual talent pool. Swimlane stated that the APAC region faces a significant cybersecurity talent shortage with an estimated 2.04 million open cybersecurity roles, accounting for 66% of the total global shortage.
