Thai Shipbuilder Launches New Patrol Vessels for the Royal Thai Navy

Marsun Limited, a Thai shipbuilding company, has built two more M36-class patrol boats which will enter service with the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), with the boats being built at the company’s facilities in Samut Prakan, and construction of the two boats started in June 2018.

The two new M36-class patrol boats will be RTN’s fourth and fifth vessels in the M36 class, have an overall length of 36 m, an overall beam of 7.6 m, and a hull draught of 1.75 m. The boats are powered by three Cummins KTA50-M diesel engines with 1,800 hp each, allowing the M36 to reach a top speed of 27 knots and a range 1,200 nautical miles while also accommodating a crew of 28.
