Thailand’s Courts to Transition to Blockchain Storage Network by 2021

September 2020

The Thai Office of Courts of Justice is developing a blockchain storage network as a part of court digitalization campaign set for the end of 2021. The blockchain transition is the latest in a string of digitization projects by the Thai government as it works towards ‘Thailand 4.0’ economic model.

The introduction of blockchain technology to the judicial system will allow seamless and more efficient information sharing throughout the country. Security enhancements are another factor why the court has chosen to integrate blockchain and prevent the tampering of information or evidence.

As part of the initiative, Thailand is preparing to train court officials to use the system. Officials from the Office of the Courts of Justice will act as the platform’s users and administrators when it is deployed.

With this move, Thailand has joined other countries that have managed to integrate blockchain technology within its judicial system, with China and Japan taking the lead in Asia.
