The Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) ended 2020 on a high note despite the Covid-19 pandemic. With revenue of USD 2.6 billion in 2020, an increase of 5.9% year-on-year, Vinamilk has jumped six notches among the Top 50 leading dairy companies in the world, according to Plimsoll Publishing, a British financial analysis agency.
According to the 2021 ranking by Plimsoll, Vinamilk currently ranks 36th among the world’s Top 50 dairy producers by total sales. The Vietnamese dairy company is the only dairy producer in Vietnam and South East Asia to make it to the Top 50, along with counterparts from the US, New Zealand, and Europe.
“Besides maintaining stability in production and business, Vinamilk will continue to promote cohesion and value sharing with stakeholders. Sustainable development will be oriented towards advanced models of the world dairy industry, in which action plans and initiatives will be rolled out for all parts of the company’s value chain, from research and development, farm management to manufacturing and distribution while improving its subsidiaries corporate governance and operational efficiency,” said Ms. Mai Kieu Lien, Vinamilk’s CEO.
At present, Vinamilk owns 13 international-standard farms nationwide, along with one dairy farm complex in Laos, with the firm’s total dairy herd totaling approximately 150,000 heads. This allows the firm to stay supplied with over one million liters of raw fresh milk each day. In addition to the farms, Vinamilk currently owns 13 factories, producing more than 250 types of products. The company exports its products to 56 countries and territories.
In the first quarter of 2021, Vinamilk’s export revenue increased by 7.9% over the same period last year.
