Changi Airports International (CAI) is set to significantly enhance its presence in China through a joint venture with Wuxi Sunan International Airport Group. This partnership will manage the non-aeronautical business of Wuxi Shuofang International Airport (WUX), boosting CAI’s commercial influence in the region.
The joint venture will handle retail, food and beverage, advertising, car park, and passenger services, including developments like Terminal 3 and a ground transportation center, on an exclusive concessionary basis for 20 years. This strategic move allows CAI to leverage its expertise to improve the airport’s commercial layout, introduce diverse retail and dining options, and enrich the passenger experience. Wuxi Shuofang International Airport, located in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone, serves the thriving cities of Wuxi and Suzhou. This area is crucial for global exporters and a popular destination for tourists. As of early 2024, the airport connects to 42 domestic and six international destinations.
This venture not only positions CAI to boost non-aeronautical revenue but also supports the economic and tourism development of Jiangsu province. The collaboration is set to transform the commercial landscape of Wuxi Shuofang International Airport, enhancing its role as a vital economic hub.
