American luxury fashion brand Coach will introduce the world’s first Coach Airways, a unique retail concept store, and café housed in a transformed 1981 Boeing 747-230B aircraft. The store will be in Freeport A’Famosa Outlet, an upscale shopping center in the Melaka state of Malaysia.
To emulate an air travel experience, an entry pass resembling an air ticket for Coach Airways will be given to customers, right from the entrance via an air bridge. Customers will be able to explore the interior of the plane and its retail cabins to browse a curated selection of ready-to-wear, bags and travel accessories. In addition to the retail space, the aircraft will have a welcoming area, an immersive gallery, and a contemporary café.
In April 2021, the project commenced, involving the successful acquisition, transfer, assembly, and completion of the Boeing 747 by May 2023. The Boeing 747, with dimensions of 231 feet 10 inches in length and a wingspan of 195 feet 8 inches, was once acclaimed as the largest civilian aircraft globally in the late 1960s
