Gulf Marketing Group (GMG), a Middle Eastern conglomerate, has announced that it will open its first Sun & Sand Sports (SSS) store in Singapore. SSS, established in Dubai in 1979, is the middle east’s largest sports retailer, and has been credited for championing a strong sporting and active lifestyle across the Middle East with its portfolio of the world’s most loved sports, fitness, and lifestyle brands. Its Singapore store, which was launched in late May 2023, is located in the Raffles City complex in downtown Singapore, and combines the latest in digital retail technology and the widest selection of fitness and lifestyle products. This includes features such as digital LED plinths, levitating shoes, pickup sensors, and more to provide a dramatic backdrop to a modern and immersive consumer experience.
Since entering the Southeast Asian market in 2020, the GMG has already opened 31 SSS stores across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Its Asian headquarters in located in Malaysia, and it plans to open 100 new stores for its various brands by 2025 in Southeast Asia, with 11 of them expected to be SSS stores. This move showcases the group’s aim of capitalizing on a retail boom in Southeast Asia, which has been driven and sustained by young demographics, increasing spending power and digitally savvy consumers.
