The Tun Razak Exchange, a 70-acre development for international finance and business, recently announced a new retail development, The Exchange TRX, set to open in Kuala Lumpur in the fourth quarter of 2023.
With a 1.3 million square foot of net lettable area, the development will host 400 stores, ranging from new-to-the-market brands and statement stores to innovative store formats. Tenants include Golden Screen Cinemas, the Seibu department store, and an upscale supermarket. Moreover, the development will host five dining precincts with more than 100 outlets, including a traditional hawker concept, an international food hall and premium dining, and a dining terrace.
Another feature of the retail premise is that it will integrate with a 10-acre rooftop public park, with a biodiverse ecosystem of more than 150,000 plantings from close to 150 native species. The park will also be used as a venue to host red-carpet galas, festivals, concerts, movie premieres, and international exhibitions.
The Exchange TRX’s project director highlighted how the company’s strategy consists in a diverse retail mix complemented by dynamic leisure and entertainment activations to serve as a key point of differentiation and drive visitors to spend more time and come more often.
