Five industry players have tied up to explore the development of a supply infrastructure to bring liquefied hydrogen (LH2) into Singapore to power Keppel’s data centers. They are Keppel Data Centres Holding (a 70-30 joint venture between Keppel Corp subsidiaries Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation and Keppel Land), Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Linde Gas Singapore, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines; and Vopak LNG Holding, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal operator.
The five companies have entered into a memorandum of understanding to study the technical and commercial viability of a Liquified Hydrogen (LH2) supply chain. The study will examine the feasibility of production and liquefaction plant and export terminal at the exporting country, as well as storage units, regasification facilities, an import terminal in Singapore, and transporting LH2 via ocean-going tankers.
This collaboration between the five parties is expected to continue till the end of 2021 when they will determine the next phase of collaboration.
