Pratt & Whitney Singapore Facility Achieves Full Operational Capability

July 2023

Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in the design, manufacture, and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units, recently announced that its Singapore manufacturing facility had achieved full operational capability. As part of the company’s Industry 4.0 strategy, the facility has integrated the latest technology and automation into its manufacturing processes and wall-to-wall closed-door machining to increase productivity, safety and process control, while reducing quality issues and increasing overall production throughput. This advanced technology, alongside digital communication technologies, has allowed Pratt & Whitney to create a fully integrated manufacturing environment.

The 20,500 square meter manufacturing facility, which officially opened in 2016, evolved from a single fan blade production line to a three fan blade and three disk production lines, making it capable of producing and delivering over 11,000 fan blades and 2,400 turbine disks annually for the GTF engine family. The expansion of the facility was supported by the Singapore government and the Economic Development Board. As the second Pratt & Whitney fan blade and high-pressure turbine disk production facility in the world, the facility will play a critical role in fulfilling customer needs and supporting growth in the Asia Pacific region and beyond. The GTF engine family already has over 10,000 engine orders and commitments worldwide.
