Super Energy Corporation to Build Thailand’s First Hybrid Power Plant

July 2021

Thai company Super Energy Corporation has announced plans to develop the country’s first power plant based on hybrid renewable resources. According to Super Energy Corporation´s chief executive, the company will develop the plant by the end of 2021, with the start of operations set for 2022.
The project will be located in Sa Kaeo province and is estimated to have a cost of around USD 60 million. It will have an installed power generation capacity of 49 MW from a solar farm, backup power from a 1 MW biogas-fired power plant, and a 136 MW-hour energy storage system. It is planned that 16 MW of electricity will be sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat).
Super Energy Corporation claims that the project will represent Southeast Asia´s largest hybrid renewable power plant in terms of capacity. It is calculated that the project will generate an average internal investment return of 16% over 20 years.
Super Energy Corporation wants to position itself as a potential partner for overseas companies that look for clean energy in order to run their factories in Thailand. The company also aims to become the first player in Thailand to provide a steady supply of electricity to Egat.
