In December 2019, Singapore-based F&N (Fraser and Neave) Foods celebrated the groundbreaking of a new food & beverage manufacturing facility in Singapore. Listed on the Singapore stock exchange, F&N ranks as one of the leading companies in the beverage and dairy product segments in the region. F&N is present in 11 countries spanning Asia Pacific, Europe and the USA, and employs over 7,700 people worldwide.
The new facility will cost more than SGD 80 million (USD 59.3 million) and is planned for completion in late 2021. Upon completion, this new 375,000 square foot (34,848 square meter) facility in Tuas, Singapore will expand F&N Singapore’s capabilities across all aspects, from production and warehousing to research and development, and enable F&N to consolidate most of its Singapore non-alcoholic beverages operations under one roof, thereby achieving operational synergies and economies of scale.
The company press release described the new facility as a future-ready, smart factory that will support F&N’s vision of becoming the leading F&B player in the ASEAN region. It is set to be the product innovation center of the F&N Group, accelerating the translation of innovative ideas and concepts into finished products and will further strengthen F&N’s research and development capabilities to expand its offerings of health and wellness beverages with sustainable packaging solutions.
The plant is also designed with state-of-the-art automated storage and retrieval system, thereby improving vertical integration and connectivity within the supply chain. This will allow F&N to create manufacturing and warehousing synergies, enable lean production and enhance productivity. The facility’s operational processes will also achieve efficiencies in water and energy use, with the company targeting the achievement of the BCA (Building and Construction Authority) Green Mark Platinum award for the facility.
