Indonesia’s government will expand its free telemedicine program for COVID-19 patients outside Jakarta. By using the government website, COVID-19 patients outside of Jakarta who are self-isolating with minimal symptoms or even asymptomatic can access the telemedicine service. Greater Bandung, greater Solo, greater Semarang, Yogyakarta, greater Malang, and Denpasar are among the areas covered by this service expansion.
The government is collaborating with 17 virtual healthcare providers, including Halodoc and Alodokter. Besides the two major telehealth companies mentioned, Aido Health, GetWell, Good Doctor, Homecare24, KlikDokter, KlinikGo, Lekasehat, LinkSehat, Mdoc, Milvik Dokter, ProSehat, SehatQ, Trustmedis, Vascular Indonesia, and YesDok will also be joining the collaboration. In addition, the logistics startup SiCepat and a pharmaceutical company Kimia Farma will play a role in the medicament delivery for patients.
After taking an RT-PCR test from a state-recognized laboratory, patients who tested positive are eligible for teleconsultation. Following the confirmation test, patients will receive a WhatsApp message from the Ministry of Health with a link to schedule a free online consultation with one of its partner service providers, during which the doctor will issue a digital prescription for patients to fill out on another website and thus receive free medicines.
