The Philippines and Singapore have recently agreed to exchange knowledge, technical expertise, and best practices for digital cooperation.
The two countries agreed to collaborate in areas of Digital Connectivity, Scam Calls and Short Message Services (SMS), Personal Data Protection, Emerging Technologies, Digital Government, and Cybersecurity among others.
The Philippines is currently prioritizing digitalization advancement and the integration of e-governance in government services. In line with data management and e-governance, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) of the Philippines is also deploying data harmonization efforts to ensure interoperability across concerned institutions and organizations. The country is consolidating data by deploying Application Programming Interface (APIs) and generating the necessary data for one government approach in terms of citizen-centric services.
The Philippines aims to improve the connectivity across its 7,100 islands to cement the country´s position as the next hyperscaler hub in Asia following the launch of a subsea cable of a local telco company that was able to increase their international gateway capacity from 20 terabits to 60 terabits in one of their gateways alone.
