During the Paris Salon International de l’Agriculture (SIA) held in March 2022, the Vietnamese Ambassador to France emphasized the potential for long-term development and mutual benefits between Vietnam and France.
Specifically, the Southeast Asian nation aims to modernize its agriculture sector, and the government is willing to work closely with France and other European countries to develop agricultural innovations that fulfill consumers’ evolving demands. According to official targets, Vietnam’s agriculture sector aims for a growth of 2.5% to 3% annually until 2030, with agricultural productivity increasing by 5.5%.
At the exhibition, several French partners in various industries, including meat processing, livestock development and seafood processing, expressed their willingness to explore the potential market and wish to collaborate with Vietnam. This cooperation can support Vietnam’s goal to export more agricultural products to France and Europe. In effect, agricultural and aquatic products are projected to achieve significant growth in these markets, thanks to preferential access granted by the recently signed European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
