Felcra Bhd, an agency under the Malaysian Ministry of Rural Development, will construct a second Integrated Poultry Complex project for RM20 million (USD 4.2 million). The 10-hectare project will be located in Padang Terap, Kedah state, and aims to secure the country’s food supply and boost its economy.
Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid stated that the project is expected to begin at the end of the year and be completed in the following year, October. The project will increase the agro-food business and create jobs for locals.
The first poultry complex built by Felcra is in Rompin, Pahang. In August 2022, the agency announced an investment of around MYR 60 million (USD 12.66 million) for a large-scale chicken farming project that aims to supply 600,000 chickens every 35 days, or 3.6 million chickens, within its first year of operation. Moreover, two million chickens are required daily, or 62.9 million each month, in Malaysia.
