Oliver Healthcare Packaging to Establish its Largest Regional Facility in Malaysia

March 2023

Oliver Healthcare Packaging, a global US-headquartered healthcare firm, announced plans to establish a new 122,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the state of Johor in Malaysia. This will be its largest plant in the region, designed to meet Asia-Pacific’s rising demand for pharmaceutical and medical device products.

The plant, which will be located within the i-Tech Valley, an integrated industrial park in the established economic zone of Iskandar Puteri, Johor state, is set to open in the first quarter of 2024. Oliver’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Michael Benevento, stated that the company has positioned itself in Southeast Asia to target the high concentration of pharmaceutical and medical device companies in Singapore and Malaysia. The new manufacturing facility will have ISO-7 and ISO-8 clean rooms to meet the growing regulatory standards for medical packaging, and it will produce pouches, lids, CleanCut cards, and roll stock.

The company intends to feature sustainability throughout its manufacturing process in Malaysia, including installing solar panels to supplement and lessen reliance on local utilities. Some of the materials used in the manufacturing process will be 100% recyclable, and recycling programs will be implemented to not only reduce the amount of scrap but also to improve the environment. In addition, Oliver also operates a Technical Centre in Singapore for research and development, as well as manufacturing plants in the United States, Europe, and China.
