American Energy Technology Company Baker Hughes announced the launch of its new oilfield services’ chemicals manufacturing facility in mid-August, which spans approximately 40,000 square meters and is the first chemicals facility for Baker Hughes in the region. The facility is expected to manufacture, store and distribute chemical solutions for upstream, midstream, downstream and adjacent industries, enabling manufacturing optimization and faster delivery of fit-for-purpose chemical solutions to support regional customers and boost Baker Hughes localization efforts.
The new technology-driven, automated facility is part of Baker Hughes’ goal of sourcing and producing chemicals in proximity to key demand hubs and is expected to expand the company’s presence in the Asia Pacific. It is also aligned with the company’s goals for carbon reduction and in support of Singapore’s ‘Green Plan 2030’ – a national sustainability movement to tackle climate change. Outside of chemicals, the company also has a strong history of localization in Singapore, with more than 800 employees throughout the country. This includes oilfield services, an equipment manufacturing site, joint turbomachinery, and process and digital solutions site, and a completions and well intervention (CWI) manufacturing site.
