Investments Flow into Medical Start-ups

February 2022

Over the past two years, the Covid-19 pandemic has spurred capital inflow into Vietnamese start-ups operating in the medical technology, medicine, and healthcare sectors.

Doctor Anywhere has recently confirmed that it has raised USD 65.7 million in a funding round organized by Asia Partners, with the presence of several investors as Novo Holdings, Philips, and OSK-SBI Venture Partners. Doctor Anywhere has been operating since 2019, and is an e-platform providing health check-ups for patients in Vietnam. The number of health check-ups submitted via this application has increased from just 200 per day in its beginning phase to more than 500 recently.

Another application, Medigo, also successfully raised USD 1 million from  Touchstone Partners to invest in drug delivery and medical consultation services. Similarly, a newcomer Medici received seed funding from Insignia Ventures to promote its system storing more than 100,000 electronic medical records of over 50 clinics and hospitals nationwide.

AiHealth, a platform assisting patients in finding doctors, booking appointments, and purchasing drugs online, has recently secured investment from Singapore. Likewise, Appworks Venture Fund announced an investment of over USD 1 million into a medical start-up Docosan, a scheduling software enabling doctors to easily manage appointment bookings at healthcare facilities.

Vietnam’s government has committed to capitalizing on telecommunications services and smart solutions in the medical sector, potentially facilitating the developments and ensuring long-term growth for such medical start-ups.
