The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) in the Philippines is prioritizing cybersecurity as part of its digitalization efforts, allocating 20.92% of its PHP 2.5 billion (USD 44.6 million) ICT budget for cybersecurity projects.
This commitment, announced by DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman during a cybersecurity conference, exceeds the internationally recommended standard of 10%. The move aims to fortify cyber cooperation for digital security in the fast-paced and interconnected modern world.
According to Stratbase Institute President Dindo Manhit, such investments in cybersecurity will enhance the country’s appeal to investors, providing a strategic and competitive advantage in the digital economy.
