Universal Alloy Corporation Expands Vietnam Plant to Produce Composite Aerospace Components

September 2024

US-based Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC), a leading manufacturer of composite components for the aerospace industry, is advancing with phase two of its investment in its Vietnam factory to increase production capacity.

The project, located in Danang Hi-tech Park on 16.8 hectares, involves a total investment of VND 3,943.2 billion (USD 158.2 million). Specifically, phase one, which began in 2019, focused on producing aerospace components such as raw material preparation and aluminum alloy assembly. Meanwhile, phase two will expand operations to include painting and manufacturing composite components.

The factory will produce 3,570 tons of components annually, surface-process 1,000 tons, assemble 500 tons, and manufacture 50 tons of composite parts. It will supply aerospace giants like Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer, along with tier-1, 2, and 3 suppliers. Key products include raceways, stringers, seat rails, cross beams, wing cleats, and fuselage stringers.

According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment, registered foreign direct investment (FDI) reached USD 18 billion by July 2024, a 10.9% year-on-year increase. Of this, Danang attracted USD 29.77 million in FDI, a 7.3% rise, ranking 31st among localities.

Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC) is a global manufacturer of high-strength, precision-engineered aluminum components, primarily serving the aerospace industry. With facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia, UAC specializes in the production of aerospace-grade extrusions and components used in aircraft structures.
