Euronet Collaborates with NFCX to Provide Netflix Prepaid Vouchers through Alfamart

August 2022

Abdi Anugerah Persada (AAP), an NFC Indonesia Tbk – MCAS Group subsidiary, collaborated with Euronet Worldwide, Inc. to distribute the first Netflix prepaid vouchers in Indonesia through Alfamart. Consumers can now purchase prepaid Netflix vouchers through Alfamart’s point of sale through a printed receipt solution, making the purchase, delivery, and redemption of Netflix content much more accessible. This is possible through Euronet’s extensive track record of delivering world-class ecosystem connectivity, its brand partnership strength, and its local partnership with AAP.

Netflix is a subscription-based streaming service that allows users to watch TV shows and movies without ads on Internet-connected devices. According to Statista’s report, Netflix had 213.56 million subscribers worldwide in the third quarter of 2021. This number is up 9.4% compared to the same period last year (year-on-year) of 195.15 million subscribers, of which 30.05 million were in the Asia Pacific region. Netflix subscribers jumped significantly, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, given the imposition of social restrictions that caused people to spend more time at home and watching streaming videos.

Netflix subscribers can now purchase Netflix vouchers at the nearest Alfamart locations. There are four types of vouchers, worth IDR 54,000 (USD 3.6), IDR 120,000 (USD 8.1), IDR 153,000 (USD 10.3), and IDR 186,000 (USD 12.6). Based on a survey by Media Partners Asia (MPA), Netflix subscribers only amounted to 850,000 as of January 2021. The new payment method on Netflix that uses digital vouchers is a huge potential for the growth of Netflix subscribers in Indonesia. This method also targets 51% of the population that is considered unbanked in 2021, according to Statista. Therefore, those who do not have access to online or credit/debit payments can easily use Netflix vouchers to subscribe to the platform.

Netflix vouchers are distributed in Indonesia through a strategic partnership between Euronet Worldwide and AAP. Euronet Worldwide is a global technology company aggregating and distributing global content, including Netflix, Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox, and many others. AAP is a digital product aggregator and has collaborated with Alfamart in distributing a broad range of digital products in Indonesia.
