Canadian Trade Mission to Vietnam and Singapore
This month Orissa International organized business meetings for a group of Canadian companies operating in the telco sector, which were in Singapore to participate in CommunicAsia 2017. Our trade consultants in the South East Asia identified system integrators as well as software and hardware companies across the region, prequalified their interest, and invited them to meet our clients at CommunicAsia. We organized more than 40 meetings for the delegation at the event.
Partner Search in the Education Sector
Orissa International assisted a US-based company that assists international students with finding American educational placement. We helped the company expand its global network by connecting them with local education agents in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
American Pipe Tools & Vises Comes To Market
A US-based manufacturer of professional pipe tools and vises visited Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Jakarta this month. Orissa International's in-country teams organized logistics and business matching meetings with the product's end-users, which are mostly medium to large enterprises from the oil, natural gas, and water sectors. The company, which had a sale on site, was very satisfied with the outcome and has expressed interest in undertaking a second business trip to the region this year.
Report on Doing Business in Indonesia
Orissa International undertook indepth research for a US company in the ICT sector to help them understand how to do business in Indonesia. We provided the company with detailed information on the regulations relating to incorporating a business, the relevant labor laws for the hiring of local staff, and other key information relating to setting up an office and operating a business in the country.
Export Forum in Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo and Ottawa
As the International Trade Development Representative (ITDR) in the ASEAN region for the International Trade Branch of the Government of Ontario, Orissa International participated in Ontario's Export Forum in Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Ottawa. The Export Forum provided an opportunity for companies from these cities to consult with Orissa International’s trade consultants and to better understand the opportunities in the markets. Some of the companies we consulted are now looking to join trade missions to South East Asia to meet with prospective business partners.
The Market for Medical Diagnostics Products in Malaysia
We undertook a research project for a UK company looking to understand the market for leptospirosis test kits in Malaysia. We interviewed key distributors in the market, as well as gathered secondary research to produce a report covering the latest trends, type of products available in Malaysia, key end-users as well as key suppliers and distributors of the product in the country.
German Rubber & Plastics Trade Mission to Vietnam
We organized a 5-day program for a German trade delegation comprising companies in the rubber and plastics sector. The delegation met with key players in the these sectors in Hanoi and HCMC through business matching meetings. The German companies presented current developments and German technologies applicable to the sectors to their prospective partners. We also organized a seminar in HCMC attended by associations and local companies in the industry where the German companies presented their solutions and networked with local players after the presentation. There were more than 50 attendees.
VIV Asia 2017 – Thailand
We assisted three companies from the state of Virginia with their meeting itineraries at VIV Asia 2017, a premier event focusing on animal protein production and processing. In addition to organizing an in-market briefing for the three companies with the US Embassy's Office of Agricultural Affairs, we arranged a schedule of meetings for them at their booths, to ensure that they maximized their time at the event. After the event, our client headed to Singapore, where we helped set up meetings with various F&B importers to help promote Virginia's agricultural products.
Northern Ireland Trade Mission to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand
This month, Orissa International provided assistance to a group of Northern Ireland companies operating in various sectors, from healthcare and ICT to construction and recycling machinery. Our trade consultants in the 3 markets identified potential partners in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand for the companies, prequalified their interest, and organized meeting schedules for our clients. We also accompanied them to the meetings when they were in-market.
Orissa International Presents at Governor’s Trade Conference on Agricultural Trade in Virginia
The Governor’s Conference for Agricultural Trade, organized by the US state of Virginia in March 2017, offered Orissa International’s trade managers a choice venue to present key opportunities in the agriculture, F&B and livestock sectors in South East Asia. The event allowed our trade managers to learn more about our client’s trade interests as well as meet and consult with companies interested to export their products and services to South East Asia.
ADB’s Business Opportunities Fair
Orissa International assisted a group of foreign companies for the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Business Opportunities Fair (BOF) at the ADB's headquarters in Manila, Philippines. The BOF is an annual one-stop forum for consultants, contractors, and suppliers from all over the world who are interested to provide goods and services for ADB's multi-sector projects across all its member countries. In addition, in order to maximize opportunities for the delegation, our in-country team helped to organize business matching meetings with potential local partners. One of the results of this initiative is an ongoing negotiation with a local partner for an important water treatment project in the Philippines.
Walkabout Program at Malaysian Trade Shows for our US Clients
Our trade consultants in Malaysia visited two trade shows held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on behalf of two government agencies based in the US. In the first trade show, Export Furniture Exhibition Malaysia (EFE) 2017, we identified potential buyers and distributors of timber products from the US, while in the second trade show, the Electric, Power and Renewable Energy Malaysia 2017 (EPRE), we identified potential end users and distributors of renewable energy equipment from the region among the participants.
